About this workflow template

This automation scenario allows you to connect Dropbox, Google Drive, and Slack.

It can be build using Ifttt, a no-code workflow automation tool. Ifttt allows you to create automated scripts using a simple drag-and-drop interface for non-technical users. This is a ready-made scenario, but it can be customized by adding more apps, actions, filters or branches.

How it works?

When this trigger fires in Dropbox

Dropbox

New file in your folder in Dropbox

This Trigger fires every time any file is saved in the folder you specify. NOTE: will process up to 15 files per polling period.

Then these actions happen in Slack and Slack

Google Drive

Upload file from URL in Google Drive

This action will download a file at a given URL and add it to Google Drive at the path you specify. NOTE: 100 MB file size limit.

Slack

Post to channel in Slack

This Action will post a message to the channel you choose in Slack.

This guide contains information on how to set up an automatic workflow that allows to Sync new files to Google Drive and post them in Slack.

Part I

Configure Applications

First, we need to connect Dropbox, Google Drive and Slack to IFTTT.

  • Create IFTTT account.

    Create IFTTT account.

    Create IFTTT account if you don't have one.

  • Connect Dropbox to IFTTT.

    Connect Dropbox to IFTTT.

    Give IFTTT access to your Dropbox account, using Dropbox credentials.

  • Connect Google Drive to IFTTT.

    Connect Google Drive to IFTTT.

    Give IFTTT access to your Google Drive account, using Google Drive credentials.

  • Connect Slack to IFTTT.

    Connect Slack to IFTTT.

    Give IFTTT access to your Slack account, using Slack credentials.

Part II

Build an integration workflow

Next, we need to create a workflow automation scenario using graphical no-code web interface of IFTTT.

  • Set up a Trigger action for Dropbox

    Set up a Trigger action for Dropbox

    Choose the following trigger: New file in your folder (This Trigger fires every time any file is saved in the folder you specify. NOTE: will process up to 15 files per polling period.).

  • Then set up an Action for Google Drive

    Then set up an Action for Google Drive

    Choose this action: Upload file from URL (This action will download a file at a given URL and add it to Google Drive at the path you specify. NOTE: 100 MB file size limit.).

  • Then set up another Action for Slack

    Then set up another Action for Slack

    Choose this action: Post to channel (This Action will post a message to the channel you choose in Slack.).

Test and Publish

Finally, we need to test this automation and publish it.
