This automation scenario allows you to connect Fing and Arlo
It can be build using Ifttt, a no-code workflow automation tool. Ifttt allows you to create automated scripts using a simple drag-and-drop interface for non-technical users. This is a ready-made scenario, but it can be customized by adding more apps, actions, filters or branches.
Fing and Arlo can also be integrated using automation tools other than ifttt:
When this trigger fires in Fing
This trigger fires when a user is detected in or nearby your network.
Then this action happens in Arlo
This Action will set your Arlo mode to Disarmed.
This guide contains information on how to set up an automatic workflow that allows to Stop Arlo watching when we're at home.
Part I
First, we need to connect Fing and Arlo to IFTTT.
Create IFTTT account.
Create IFTTT account if you don't have one.
Connect Fing to IFTTT.
Give IFTTT access to your Fing account, using Fing credentials.
Connect Arlo to IFTTT.
Give IFTTT access to your Arlo account, using Arlo credentials.
Part II
Next, we need to create a workflow automation scenario using graphical no-code web interface of IFTTT.
Set up a Trigger action for Fing
Choose the following trigger: A user arrived (This trigger fires when a user is detected in or nearby your network.).
Then set up an Action for Arlo
Choose this action: Disarm (This Action will set your Arlo mode to Disarmed.).
Part III
Finally, we need to test this automation and publish it.
Customize data flow
Configure the data that is exchanged between Fing and Arlo.
Test the workflow and turn it on for production use
Test your scenario and publish to production. Now you have an automatic workflow, that will Stop Arlo watching when we're at home!
This Trigger fires when your Arlo device detects motion.
Triggers when a new basic event registration is created
Triggers when a new contact is created
Triggers when an existing contact is updated
Triggers when an existing basic event registration is updated
This Trigger fires every time Arlo reports low battery level on the selected Arlo device.
Resume the access to internet for a given user or category.
This action will play a light effect on Fingbox LED.
Suspend the access to internet for a given user or category.
This trigger fires when a user is detected in or nearby your network.
This trigger fires when no one of a user group is detected in or nearby your network.
Trigger requires you only to have a free Fing Account, you don't need a Fingbox to use this!Trigger fires when there is an Internet outage event on your ISP impacting your location, both when it starts and it is resolved.
IFTTT helps to create applications connections with a simple statement: if this then that. For example: "Tweet your Instagrams as native photos on Twitter". You define a task by a trigger and an action.
